Heavy Sleepers Need Vibrating Alarm Clocks
Some people are naturally heavy sleepers, while the rest of us can awake easily at the din made by your average alarm clock, they sleep on. Shouting at them doesn't seem to have too much effect either. There might be a little muttering but not much else.
Teenagers are notorious for being difficult to get awake as are students, not helped by the large amounts of alcohol that many like to consume.
Of course it can all be very amusing trying to wake them up but it does have a downside. One is that it can get very tiresome if you're the one trying to get them up everyday. The other big problem is sometimes people have to get up on time. There's nothing funny about missed flights, missing exams or being late for a job interview.
So why might vibrating alarm clocks be just what's needed for a heavy sleeper. It's not that they can't wake up nor is it usually a deliberate decision on their part to not get up. For some reason their conscious minds don't snap awake when they are faced by the loud annoying sound of an alarm clock. If they hear it at all their brains barely register it.
What you need is an all-round assault on the senses. Vibrating alarm clocks don't just vibrate they usually come with extras like an extremely loud alarm, far louder than on a normal alarm clock. This maximises the chances of the heavy sleeper both hearing and registering the noise.
Another feature that some of these vibrating alarm clocks have is a bright strobe light. Having a very bright light flashing around you as you sleep is surprisingly effective. Most normal sleepers will immediately wake up if someone switches on the bedroom light. The flashing strobe light is like this but on grander scale.
Finally there's the vibrating part. Although the vibration pads can be quite small they do give off a powerful shaking action, jolting the heavy sleeper into a wakeful state.
Vibrating alarm clocks tend to go for a multi-pronged attack to ensure the chances of waking someone up are at their maximum. That's why they are so good for heavy sleepers.
